ABOUT THE HAVANESE BREED

  • Hair on both outer and undercoats is silky soft and comes in a variety of colours and patterns from white to shades of cream, champagne, gold, black, blue, silver or chocolate.

  • Non-shedding, hypoallergenic coat is like human hair and is odorless even when wet.

  • Hair can be kept natural and long or clipped short or mid-length.

  • Eyes are large, dark and oval shaped that give that “love me” appealing gaze.

  • Weighs from 8 to 16 pounds.

  • Walks and runs with a unique, springy gait

  • Happy, peaceful personalities make them excellent companions for children

  • Does well in all types of housing, from apartments to homes with large yards, as they can adapt their energy level to their owners

  • Nicknamed “Velcro dog” because they stick so closely to their owner’s side

  • Trainable and surprisingly energetic, and has excelled in dog sports such as agility, freestyle, obedience, and fly ball.

  • Good watchdog with a few deep barks when seeing someone passing by the house or hearing a strange noise but don’t bark needlessly.

  • Loves to watch the world from up high, and will find their way onto the backs of sofas and tables to watch the day pass by.

  • Havanese are new to the AKC and CKC but have been in existence in it's native Cuba for centuries as a treasured family pet

  • Parents have been health checked, vaccinated, CERF (Certified Eye Registration Foundation) tested, and hips vet-tested prior to breeding.
